I hope you are all doing well and students are able to start accessing their elearning opportunities today. Teachers have set up the assignments so that:
-2nd and 3rd grade students have approximately 100 minutes of learning each day
-4th and 5th grade students have approximately 120 minutes of learning each day.
We realize that many students may be sharing technology and we want to make sure all students are able to have enough time to work on their elearning.
Third Grade Reading Guarantee Update
We know many parents of third graders have questions about how the Governor’s ordered school building closure will impact their child in regards to Ohio’s Third Grade Reading Guarantee law.
Because of the suspension of spring testing, newly enacted Ohio law says no students shall be retained in the third grade following the 2019-2020 school year based solely on the student’s academic performance in reading.
Horizon Science Academy Elementary will continue to work to meet the needs of readers during this unprecedented time. If you have specific questions about that support, please reach out to your student’s teacher and/or principal.
